Meet the team

Lab Director
Robin Karlin
I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences. I completed my PhD at Cornell University in 2018 under the guidance of Draga Zec. My dissertation is titled "Towards an articulatory model of tone: a cross-linguistic investigation". From 2019-2023 I was a postdoc at the SMAC Lab at the Waisman Center at UW-Madison.

Lab Manager
Sophie Barth
Within the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences, I work with both Dr. Karlin and Dr. Larson to manage the NeSST and LLC Labs. I am a recent graduate of the University of Chicago with a B.A. in Psychology and prior experience researching the development of social stereotypes in young children and the impact of Imposter Syndrome on early career academics. I am broadly interested in speech and language learning and neurodevelopmental disability and aim to gain more experience in these areas before refining my focus in graduate school.

Graduate Research Assistant
Abigail Collier
I am a first-year graduate student in the Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences department at the University of Missouri. Following graduate school, I hope to work as medical speech pathologist specializing in neurodegenerative disorders that affect communication.

Graduate Research Assistant
Maggie Ribaudo
I am a first year graduate student studying Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at Mizzou. Following graduate school I plan to work in the field for a few years, most likely with pediatrics, so that I can narrow my research interests.

Graduate Research Assistant
Sarah Stelzer, MHS, CF-SLP
I recently graduated from the University of Missouri’s MHS program in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences. This fall, I will begin my career as a Clinical Fellow Speech-Language Pathologist, working in both an elementary school and a skilled nursing facility. I am very excited to help my students and patients gain confidence in the areas of speech, language, and swallowing.

Undergraduate Research Assistant
Riley Hall
I'm an undergraduate student in Speech-Language Pathology pursuing graduate school to become a licensed SLP. Though I began my academic journey as a student of political science and philosophy, my experience as an SLP paraprofessional ignited my interest in this field. I'm grateful to be able to explore speech-language pathology through my coursework at MU and discover the setting where I can best serve others.

Undergraduate Research Assistant
Cora Hartwig
I am currently a senior in my undergraduate program studying Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences with a minor in Education. Following graduation, I hope to attend graduate school and become a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist. I have found many areas of this field that I'm interested in, and I plan to explore my options following graduate school with plans of working in pediatrics.
